Sub-Genres of Thriller
Action thriller - An action thriller is when physcial action creates the suspecsion within a film. Like action films they will have continuous action such as: stunts, chases, fights and races. These scenes will shows stablish the dangers that the main character is dealing with. Examples are:
Crime thriller - Crime thriller includes the suspence of a thriller but is focused on a plot that heavily features crime. This sub genre usually includes either a murderer, serial killer or robbery. Unlike usual crime film, the audeince will see the storyline from the points of view of both the protagonist and the criminal. Examples are:
Psychological thriller - A psychological thriller has both the elements of mystery and suspense within the film as well as having elements of the horror genre within. The storyline usually emphasises the unstable emotional state of the protagonist even though theyusually has to relie on thier mental resources to solve the situaion they are in. Examples are:
Science fiction thriller - Scince fiction thrillers have a science based themes in the storyline. Usually this sub genre will involve: villans, heroes, quests and advanced technology as these add supense to the film. they may also use 'future gone bad themes' which include plots such as alien invasions and super diseases. Examples are:
Religious thriller - Relious thrilles have religous themes throughout which may include ceremonies and symbolic objects. Many of these thriller incluse supernatural elements and major themes include: exorcisms, church cover ups and demon posession. Examples are:
